Parallel dialing, and when to use it

Ring several people at once and talk to the first who answers. Use it for new contacts and big lists; use power dialing for callbacks and follow-ups.

Parallel dialing places several calls at the same time. The first person who answers is connected to you. The other lines keep ringing for a few seconds, until the dialer knows a person answered, and are then canceled.

Power or parallel?

  • Power dial (Best for quality): one person at a time, with a short pause between calls. Best for callbacks, follow-ups and calls where every conversation matters.
  • Parallel dial (Best for volume): several people at once. Best for new contacts and large lists, where most calls go unanswered.

Start a parallel run

  1. Open Phone → Power Dial and open the list.
  2. Click Start dialing and choose Parallel dial.
  3. Set Lines at once: how many people are dialed at a time, up to the limit your admin allows.
  4. When someone answers, you're connected. After the call, save the outcome. With auto-advance on, the next batch starts by itself; otherwise click Dial next batch.

Switch to power carries on with the same list one person at a time. Ending a run cancels any calls still ringing; your session stays open.

Voicemails in a parallel run

Turn on Leave voicemails automatically on this run and voicemail greetings are handled for you: the dialer frees you and leaves the voicemail after the beep, in the calling number's voice. It uses the script set up under Automatic voicemails (see Voicemail drop and AI voicemail voices). With it off, calls answered by a machine are hung up.

Settings for admins

Under Phone → Settings → Parallel Dialer:

  • Enable parallel dialing for this workspace: when off, nobody can start parallel runs.
  • Max simultaneous calls per run (up to 20) and Default simultaneous calls per run.
  • Ring time (seconds): how long each line rings. To leave voicemails, 30–35 seconds works best, since most voicemail boxes answer after 20–30 seconds.
  • Keep the other lines ringing (seconds), Try again after (minutes) and Most rings per person per day.
  • Where reps can pull leads from: Smart Queue, Campaign or Manual List.
